Holiday Hoopla

Ever wondered how the holidays you know and love are celebrated differently around the world? In this class, we will take a closer look at how we celebrate Jewish and American holidays in the United States, and how they are similar or different to holidays celebrated in Israel. This class will give you an opportunity to learn more about holidays, Israeli culture and traditions, and more. We will look at holidays in a new light, exploring why we celebrate them and their significance in our lives while doing lots of fun projects and celebrating holidays!
Jewish Textile Art
w/Rabbi Yisraela Tubman
Grades 2-5
We will be exploring different methods of how Jewish textiles have been made, and the different designs that have been incorporated. Using this knowledge, we will each create a project reflecting this learning.
Exploring Israeli Cities
w/Hila Badescu Knal
Grades 5-7
This class will explore the history, culture, and modern social landscape of different Israeli cities. Projects, games, and other fun activities will all help the students explore the unique differences and traits of Israel’s biggest and most culturally relevant cities. This course is perfect for students with curious minds who want to understand the world around them!
Exploring Kabbalah: Secrets of the Unvierse

Are you curious about the deeper meanings behind Jewish traditions? Kabbalah, the ancient wisdom that reveals the secrets of the universe, is now being explored at TBI in a fun and engaging class. Together, we’ll dive into the “why” behind many Jewish practices, explore what it truly means to be Jewish, and discover how we can apply this profound spiritual wisdom in our daily lives. Through storytelling, interactive activities, and lively discussions, we’ll explore concepts that will deepen our connection to our heritage and enrich our understanding of the world.

Around the World Through Jewish Art
w/Aliza Benor
Grades 2-5
Complete art projects each week inspired by different Jewish artists, such as Marc Chagall, Sonia Delaunay, and Amedeo Modigliani. We will make mosaics, paintings, stained glass, and more. With each artist we learn about, we will also learn about the Jewish people of their country, their practices, and parts of their history. Take a walk through global Jewry through artistic projects!
Conversational Hebrew II
w/Hila Badescu Knal
Grades 2-7
Taught by a native Hebrew speaker, this class will offer the essential basics necessary for any student wanting to learn Hebrew! Whether you have no Hebrew experience and aren’t sure where to start or you have a background in Hebrew you want to supplement, this class will have something to offer you! With games and creative projects, students will learn basic grammar and vocabulary that will propel them to a future of fluency! *This class is open to both new and returning students*
Jews in the Kitchen: Spring Holiday Foods
w/Zevariah Moses
Grades 5-7
Food is essential to life! Students will learn the history, culture and how to cook the foods of the two major Jewish holidays during spring: “Pesach (Passover) and Shavuot”. Students will also learn the importance of bread in Torah and some Israeli household classics. Students will learn the cultural foods of Spring Jewish holidays and essential cooking skills while closely supervised in the kitchen. Kitchen safety will be top priority and strictly enforced.
Tradition! – Jewish Culture in Classic Films
w/Zohar Wacks
Grades 5-7
In this class we’ll watch excerpts from some classic Jewish films such as Fiddler on the Roof, The Prince of Egypt, and Yentl. We’ll discuss the Jewish traditions depicted in the films and learn about the historical background of how and why those traditions are portrayed. Throw some popcorn in the microwave, add a little bit of Hollywood, a little bit of Torah, a dash of Talmud, and lots of fun!
